The Friendship Circle

Helping keep support free for grieving families

When a child dies, the world can feel incredibly quiet.

For nearly five decades, The Compassionate Friends Victoria has ensured that families who have experienced the loss of a child, sibling or grandchild can find connection with others who truly understand.

Every new family who reaches out to us receives a welcome pack — a gentle introduction to a community that understands their grief and can walk alongside them.

Each year, families also receive anniversary cards, letting them know that their child is remembered and that they are not alone on the days that can feel the hardest.

Behind every phone call, support group and message of remembrance is something simple but powerful — time from someone who understands.

Time from a volunteer who has also experienced the loss of a child.

Time spent listening.
Time spent sitting beside someone in grief.
Time spent helping families feel less alone.

The Friendship Circle

The Friendship Circle is a group of compassionate supporters who help make these moments of connection possible.

For $65 a year, your membership helps ensure that:

  • New families receive welcome packs when they first reach out for support
  • Families receive anniversary cards acknowledging the life of their child
  • Our trained volunteers can continue providing peer support to families when they need it most

Most importantly, your support helps ensure that all Compassionate Friends Victoria services remain free for bereaved families.

A circle of kindness

When you join the Friendship Circle, you’ll receive a special thank-you card, acknowledging your support and the role you play in helping sustain this compassionate community.

But more than that, you become part of something deeply meaningful – a circle of people helping ensure that when grief enters a family’s life, they will always find understanding waiting for them.

Join the Friendship Circle

For $65 a year, you can help keep support free for grieving families and ensure that the small but powerful gestures – a card, a welcome pack, a conversation – continue reaching those who need them most.

Because sometimes the most important message a grieving family can receive is simply this:

We remember. And you are not alone. 💙
