This journey honours the enduring bond she shares with her late brother\, Stephen\, who lost his battle with depression. \nBron’s story is one of resilience\, where running became her movement medicine\, helping her navigate the deep grief of losing Steve. Around the time Stephen had been dead longer than he had lived\, Bron found herself exhausted by the heavy impact his absence had on her life. Yet\, instead of succumbing to despair\, she chose to reframe her narrative\, finding strength in her brother’s memory. \nThe Melbourne Marathon holds profound significance for Bron. It finishes at the MCG\, the very place Steve invited her to\, days before he died\, despite his struggles—a selfless act of love and courage. Now\, each marathon she runs is a step closer to Steve\, a way of reconnecting with him\, and a tribute to the lessons his life and death have taught her. \nBron’s goal to become a Spartan—an elite club for those who have completed 10 Melbourne Marathons—is more than just a personal milestone. It’s a symbol of self-belief\, resilience\, and a new perspective on loss. Through this journey\, she has transformed her grief into a source of inspiration\, with Stephen becoming the cheerleader he couldn’t be in life. \nThis year\, as Bron crosses the finish line\, she dedicates her run to the memory of her brother\, Steve.
