Topics Around Grief: The Grief of Grandparents
July 28 @ 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm| Free
This upcoming “Topics Around Grief” discussion workshop explores the nature of grandparents’ grief.
We will discuss where the grief of grandparents shares distinct similarities with the grief of parents and siblings, but also where it has its own particular characteristics and “crosses to bear”.
As a group, we will also identify:
- comforting and beneficial forms of support that grandparents have received from others;
- how family members can support one another when they are already contending with the demands of their own grief;
- practical forms of coping that grandparents have found helpful
The Facilitator: MARGE JOHNSON is the bereaved grandmother of CHARLIE and the bereaved mother of MICHELLE. She is a pastoral carer and has been involved with TCFV through support group facilitation and community education initiatives.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Topics Around Grief sessions are different from TCF support group meetings, focussing on a particular topic, rather than “where we are at in our grief”. If you are new to TCF and the experience of discussing your grief, we highly recommend you first attend group meetings for a period of time, as Topics Around Grief sessions have a singular focus and cannot meet all needs. For group meeting details, please feel welcome to call us on 9888 4944 / 1300 064 068
