Rethinking ‘Closure’

March 23 @ 2:15 pm - 5:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

‘Closure’ is typically a contentious, and even hurtful term, for bereaved people: it strongly suggests that we must put our grief, and our love for the person or people who died, behind us.

In this discussion workshop, we will explore the concept of ‘closure’. What does it mean? Does the concept help or hinder us in our grief journeys? Can it do both? Alternately, are there other life philosophies that we’ve found helpful as we work through our grief?

The facilitator of this session will be TCFV President Andrew Weatherhead. He is the bereaved father of MAX, 26, and bereaved brother of CAROLINE, 62. Along with Board membership, Andrew has been a central driver in the development of TCFV’s public speaking and community education programs.

Feel welcome to arrive any time after 2pm to settle in, have a coffee and chat. We will commence the session at 2:30pm sharp.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Topics Around Grief sessions are different from TCFV support group meetings, focussing on a particular topic, rather than “where we are at in our grief”. If you are new to TCFV and the experience of discussing your grief, we highly recommend you first attend group meetings for a period of time, as Topics Around Grief sessions have a singular focus and cannot meet all needs.
