Our
Bereaved Parent Support Centre is located at 267
Canterbury Rd. Canterbury. Melway ref: 46 E 11
(opposite Maling Road, and Canterbury Railway Station).
We guarantee that another bereaved parent will welcome
you at the door. Bereaved Parents, Siblings and Friends
are welcome to drop in anytime between 9.30 am to 4.30
pm. Monday to Friday. We have a 'Drop In Day' every Wednesday
where we encourage you to drop in for a cup of tea and
chat with other bereaved parents. |

Grief
does not discern time. We understand there are times when
you need to speak with another bereaved parent. Our grief
support telephone lines are always answered by bereaved
parents. This service is available 24 hours a day.

We
publish a bi-monthly Magazine, supplied free to bereaved
parents for the first year. Thereafter, subscription is
$33.50 (GST incl.). Subscriptions are also available for
professionals and non-bereaved at a yearly cost of $48.00.
Editorial contributions are always welcome. To contribute

'We
Need Not Walk Alone' Compassionate Friends Support
Groups offer the opportunity for bereaved parents and
siblings to meet in a safe environment with others who
have 'been there', who understand and care. Monthly support
groups are held in various locations.

One
of the major benefits of The Compassionate Friends is
that it facilitates making contact with other parents
who have suffered bereavements. Sharing of experiences
also shares the pain and helps you to see a way ahead.
Many people do not feel they need a structured support
groups. We also have social support groups where bereaved
parents can meet over lunch in a less formal setting.

Compassionate Friends has printed a variety of pamphlets
about aspects of bereavement. These are available free
on request by bereaved parents or for a small charge to
interested professionals. |

| |
Our
library contains over 1000 book titles, and an extensive
range of video and audio tapes for free use by our members.
You may borrow up to four books for four weeks. If this
is not enough time contact the Centre and arrangements
can be made to extend the loan for you. You can also request
a book and if it is out on loan we will reserve it for
you and notify you when it is returned. |
